Sydney

I love Sydney. The people here are all gorgeous, the shops are plentiful and cheap and the sales are amazing! I've been out for a drink at Lenin bar on the waterfront near the Opera House, but not properly out on the town yet. I've been up and down George Street and got myself a bank account and a mobile number (email me if you want it.. thepurplelollies@hotmail.com)
The public transport system is fantastic - Aussies seem to whinge about it nonstop. I reckon spending a week relying on Wellington's rickety Johnsonville line would cure that forever. We've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a train the whole time and the carriages are remarkably clean. And big! The trains are double-decker jobs and I've never seen one less than four carriages long.
We went to the Easter Show last Tuesday, which was heaps of fun. I bought stuff, but didn't come back with a show bag. I ended up with a hat, a toy bilby (endangered rat thing, proceeds went to helping the endangered rat thing) a hematite necklace and ring, and a cameo necklace which is currently decorating my grey tartan skirt. I really need to get a job now! I also saw a snake. I'm not a fan. Haven't seen any huntsmans yet, and I'm looking forward to it, assuming when I see one it's not on my head or something.
The next thing I want to see is the bats taking off at (I've forgotten the name of it) at dusk. Apparently it's really cool. This weekend we should also get to the zoo and the aquarium.
One thing I've noticed over here is that they have HUGE shopping malls, everywhere. Seems like there's one parked at every train station. Convenient, but dangerous until I find myself a proper income. I have a few leads at the moment. I was offered the job with the deaf relay service, but turned it down as it wasn't enough money. I've signed up with an agency, and I'm looking at roles with an IT company (which I'm really excited about) and a stockbroking firm. Both are fixed term contracts, but that's okay cause I'd quite like to have some variety. I've settled on the IT industry or financial services as areas to develop into.
I had an interview today for the IT one, and I'm pretty amped about it - it's close to home, pays a good rate and sounds like interesting work. I hope I get it!
