extreme weather!

It's been a bit wet lately. You may have seen this on the news or whatnot. I'd like to take this opportunity to let you know that I am just fine. In fact, I'm feeling very much at home, as the weather is just like being in Wellington. All horizontal rain and such.
It has been pretty intense actually. There've been all sorts of delays on the train lines, which is a pain in the bum getting to and from work.
Last night I rocked up to the train station to find the platform ram jammed with people, to the extent that people were queueing on the stairs. These are pretty big platforms, and while they do get crowded in rush hour, you couldn't move last night on platform 4 at Wynyard. As I squished in between a fat dude and an old lady with her elbows out on the stairs, they announced that the trains were off and were being replaced by buses. Have you ever seen 5000 people trying to file down a stairway designed for maybe 50? It's intense. So 5000 filed out of the train station in a reasonably orderly manner and lined up on George Street for some mythical bus. At that point I gave up, got a coffee, and went back to the station to see when the trains might be on again. I work just above Wynyard Station, so I was planning to just go back to work and hang out there for a bit. Maybe eat some cheese. Turns out, the trains were just bloody fine! I got there, and in two minutes along came a train. Which I got on. The moral of the story? Cityrail are mental. And possibly spiteful.

We have high wind warnings both outdoors and indoors tonight. It's meant to get up to some serious gale force winds near dawn. I'm keeping an eye on it all from bed with a sore tummy - hence the indoor wind warnings. I find it pretty amusing, apart from the pain part of it.. but Rory is sleeping on the couch to avoid being gassed in the night. I'm pretty sure this makes me less of a woman and more of a crusty old curmudgeon... but what can I do? I have a bad tummy... might as well get some enjoyment out of it! ^_^
