My apologies, I have been extremely remiss in updating this page. Now I shall have to think of all the things that have happened since July!
Well, I moved house in July, to Waterloo. My new flatmate is Sarah, from Auckland, who is absolutely darling. I love her to bits. Our apartment is in a suburb full of similar apartments, so it's a bit like living in Legoland, but the apartment is comfortable, and has a pool and a gym, and aircon. I'd thought I'd live somewhere more... lived-in, but I do quite like it here, in spite of my snobbish disdain for things modern.
I'm still working at BBY (the stockbrokers), and I won a payrise just before my birthday! That was the best day ever. I had been thoroughly spoilt for my birthday, taken out to lunch at a swanky Italian place in Martin Place, and (swoon) granted a payrise. Then I went to a party at my friend Kevin's place, and had the following week off in New Zealand, to spend with Mum and Dad and some Wellington friends. What a fantastic weekend!
My week in NZ was lovely - although I seem to be acclimatised to Sydney weather, so I found it really cold. I had two days of lectures at Massey Palmy, so I went in and checked out Dad's office, and got to have lunch with Dad both days (and Mum the second). It was funny coming back to really broad kiwi accents, and hearing people say "eh" after every third sentence! Everything's well on the farm. They've had three lambs this year over winter, and they're quite biggish now. We had one night where some of the sheep got out, and there was all kinds of herding sheep in the dark (there may have also been a few choice curse words). I thought it was good fun, but I think Mum and Dad were less impressed about it. I suppose the novelty would wear off real fast.
I'm working very very hard, and cramming in study as well, so I've been really busy over the last couple of months. Sadly, I was a bit too busy to hold on to Rory, and we've broken up. It's okay though, he's settled in well and everyone is on good terms. Mum was good enough to tell me he wasn't good enough for me... and then suggest I get back together with Hamish. Thanks, Mum. ;)
My place has been a bit of a hostel for transient Kiwis lately - we've had two of Sarah's friends from Auckland to say, and now Ainsley, who I worked with at Inland Revenue is here while she finds a flat. It's good fun having people around, particularly people who have recently been through duty free.... !
This last week I've been at a conference in Double Bay, which has been interesting. I was pretty nervous about it, because I'm not a 'networking' kind of person, but it all seemed to go okay, and the CEO gave me a lovely box of Belgian choccies for helping out, which was nice. It really is fantastic to be working in a place where they notice when you're doing a good job!
The weather's getting warmer, and I keep discovering new weird little extremely cheap clothes shops. I'm ashamed at the rate my wardrobe is growing, and I really must stop soon.. but things are so cheap here!
I suppose that will do for the Reader's Digest version of July/August/Most of September. I'll endeavour to be less slack in future. Of course, if I need to be prodded into action, you can always email me at: thepurplelollies@hotmail.com
