Lifestyles of the poor and obscure

Since my last blog, I've managed to cram in some minor celebrity experiences. I saw Simple Plan and Catherine Zeta Jones on the same day! Simple Plan were rehearsing for the camera crew on 'Dance', and I happened to be walking past when CZJ got out of a car outside the State Theatre for some premiere or other. How very exciting. Next time I'll try for some more interesting celebrities as those ones seem to have given me germs - I went home that night and immediately got ill. I'd done thirteen hours across three jobs that day, as well as it being a Monday, so I probably had a hole in my immune armour somewhere. It was just a 24 hour thing, but unpleasant nonetheless.

I still have no couch, although that should be fixed next week. I know I've been saying that for a while.... but life gets in the way, y'know? I'm still going with the black Ikea thingit, that way I can get matching stuff later, armchairs and the like. It'll be awesome having a couch, finally. I have lots of lovely cushions, but it's still not quite the same, and it does make my loungeroom look a bit odd.

I went fishing the other weekend with Terry, Luke and Andrew on a little boat at Akuna Bay, and caught myself a 30cm bream, and a pike eel. I let them both go. Actually, to be totally honest, Andrew let the eel go, as it seemed hell-bent on strangling itself by curling around the fishing line and tangling itself all up. As eels are both slimy and vicious, I thought it best left in the hands of the experts. Funnily enough, Andrew caught an even bigger pike eel later on, which did exactly the same thing, only bit him and tore a hole in his t-shirt in the process!

The hair is a sort of reddy-brown. As Sarah so kindly pointed out, I have 'gone gina'. Whatever that means. I wouldn't call it ginger exactly, but it's very normal and boring. I might go a shade darker next time I refresh it, and stick to the semi-permanents for a while.

I’ve been having my groceries delivered, and this week I decided to get the $30 box of seasonal vegetables instead of picking out which ones I wanted, cause I can never decide. I figured I’d get a surprise box and just cook what I ended up with. I don’t think I’ll do it again, cause I got things like eggplant (NOBODY likes eggplant, surely?) and mushrooms and celery. The celery’s going in a vegetable soup, the eggplant I’ll try and fry up Turkish style, but I’m not sure what I’ll do with the mushrooms, because neither Terry nor I like them. I also have nice things, like asparagus, courgettes, pumpkin and rocket, so I do have plenty to eat – I just have to cook it all up and freeze it so it lasts me.
